Anonymous asked: So what's the verdict on Supper Cuts, or other cheapo chains? Yay or nay? Where else should I go instead?

The verdict is always “you get what you pay for”. There are exceptions to the rule of course, but it is not the norm. Go to a professional salon. It’s more expensive but it’s worth it. You end up not having to go as often if you get it done well.

Anonymous asked: I have always had my hair all the same length, but I'm thinking of mixing it up a little. Should I just aks for layers, or should I be more specific somehow?

Always be as specific as you can. Bring in a picture of what you like. Have specific things you do and don’t want. Otherwise, they’ll just cut it how they want and you will most likely be disappointed in some areas.

Anonymous asked: I saw you recommend clips to another inquirer. I have absolutely no idea how to use clips. :( Help?

It really just comes with practise. I usually grab a section of hair (or all of it) twist it up and then clip it in place. But there’s tons of ways to use clips, There are lots of hair tutorials on YouTube you could watch. Just search hair clip tutorial. :]

Anonymous asked: I have medium-long blackish hair, and I usually just keep it straight because I'm not a big fan of ponytails, but can you recommend any fun and easy hairstyles to try?

Braids are always really fun and cute because not many people use them. Also the half up half down is super cute. I like messy up-dos in clips too. Clips are awesome!

helyea asked: I have thick, wavy hair. And I have a lot of it. My hairdresser works his magic with the blow dryer and it comes out smooth and silky feeling. I am not so talented when it comes to the blow dryer. I look like a deranged monkey trying to get my arms at the right angle to dry my roots and the back of my head. I end up giving up and letting it air dry (which takes hours...) and then I straighten it. It's never as smooth and silky as my hairdresser gets it. Am I just impaired or is there something I'm missing when it comes to blow drying correctly? I use Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide before I straighten. Thanks.

I know exactly how you feel! When you go to the hair dresser it’s like you have different hair. Mine actually ends up looking too THIN when she does it, which is insane! What I’ve learned to do is watch how they blow dry and try to emulate it. Obviously you can’t round-brush the back like they can, but you can round-brush the sides. It’s hot and tiring but if you don’t give up, and practise, you’ll get it. I did.

potleafonthewatertower asked: I burned off part of my bangs when I used a curling iron, what can I do about the little bit that's left over? I was told to just let it grow out, but I did and now it looks stupid when I try to part the rest of my bangs.

Hmm. I don’t think I could give good advice unless I had a picture, but have you tried asking a hairdresser what they’d recommend? I know waiting for it to grow suuucks. I’ve also used the pin method whenever I hate my bangs. I’ve cut them too short before and I just pin them back till they grow back. It’s not fun, but it looks fine for the time being.

emer-helena asked: Do you use dry shampoo? Is there any particular brand you'd reccomend?

I’ve never used dry shampoo. I don’t think it would work for me to be honest. I have really thick hair so I’ve never even considered it personally.

Anonymous asked: My hair is currently maybe four or five inches past my shoulders. I really want to grow it down to my elbows or so but it doesn't seem to be growing any longer. I have never really been able to get it longer than this. Is there anything I can do to help along the process?

Everyone feels this way. It’s like it reaches a certain length then refuses to grow. This happens because we have breakage, hair trims, and normal shedding. I’d recommend a trim. This sounds weird, but it’s true that a trim gets rid of the breaking bits and ensures that your hair will be stronger longer. Once your hair is healthy enough, it will grow. I also recommend Mane N Tail shampoo. Several people have told me it makes their hair stronger and longer. I really want to try it myself, as I’m trying to grow my hair.

Anonymous asked: My hair looks really great and curled perfectly after a shower but then I sleep and I wake up with a mess! I don't have time to shower in the morning or time for it to dry before school, any suggestions on how to maintain its nice look while asleep?

Someone has suggested putting your hair up in a bun. You can also braid it. It’s really hard to say because everyone is different. I’d recommend experimenting. I was 18 before I could do my hair properly at all. :/

soshisunnyfangirl asked: So, when I sleep with my hair wet, in the morning it's still wet, is it just because it's thick and that I should wash it earlier in the evening, or is there something I can do to fix it? (P.s. You're totes amazing)

Yo!

I’ve had this happen too. You can either wash it an hour earlier in the evening, or you can blow dry it a tiny bit before bed. I don’t know of any other way to assure it will be dry in the morning if it’s often still wet. <3
